Bakers

From www.janekaufmann.com

"I work every day in my attic studio making sculptures out of clay. After firing the pieces once in an electric kiln, I raku them in my driveway. Raku is a method of firing where red hot pieces are taken from a kiln with tongs and thrown in pine needles to smoke the clay. Firing this way is physical and exciting and I enjoy it a lot."

The artist calls them "Finger Puppets" but they reminded us of the love that goes into family traditions.

Noses are strictly fictional.

2008 Bake Off

Well, we did it again. We started at about 8:30-9:00 on Sunday morning and by dinner time Amy had estimated that we had baked about 675 cookies using 12 - 13 different recipes. Yum!
As always we had a lot of fun and Emily, Allison and Hannah joined in. I don't think there are any 'new' entries this year, but lots and lots of the tried and true. Todd and Ken, you will be receiving your portion soon in the mail. No shaking! They are fragile.
I think one reason for the success tof his year's marathon was the little baking figurines that Ken and Todd left here for Kim, Amy and me when they were here for Thanksgiving. I have to ask. Are they baking gnomes? Baking fairies? or just good luck baking symbols. Whatever they are, they are much appreciated and so very thoughtful. Thank you so much. They were placed in appropriate places and 'watched over' the activities throughout the day. By the way, the noses on the figures have no direct relation to any of us ....right??
Thank you very much for thinking of us and I am sure here will be a few extra 'goodies' in the box for each of you :)

Amy's tree is beautiful as usual. Our is up, but remains naked at this point. Perhaps this week end......we'll see.
I truly wish that I could include pictures of my tree, our cookie baking, the cute little 'gnome' and whatever else. But I have not figured out how do do this yet. Perhaps later. And Amy thought she was the 'techno-dunce".

My advice to each of you is to enjoy each day (even the hectic crazy times). Be truly thankful for each and every opportunity and situation that you find yourselves in. We are all so blessed and I love each and every one of you so much.

Wednesday

I totally know how you feel. I am at least 5 "man-days" behind on getting ready for Santa. Also to be completed by Dec. 25. How do we go about correcting this? I figure if I don't sleep at all, that's at least 3 extra days :)

Font Test

Trying to see if I can use a font that is not a default setting in the Quick BlogCast software.

Calibri

Cooper Black

Impact

Magneto

It looks like you can use fonts that are not part of the software tool. I chose these random from a list of fonts in Microsoft word.

However, there are two things that have to happen in order to use them.

1. The fonts have to not only be on your machine, but anyone reading the post must have the font installed on their machine, too. If you write something in a font called NewFunFont1234, and that font is not installed on my machine, for example, my internet browser will replace it with the default, Times New Roman because it won't recognize the name as an installed font.

2. When using an unsupported font, the text must be written first in the "Write" tab of the New Entry page, and then you will click on the"HTML" tab. In there, you will have to add code to the beginning and end of each section of text you want to decorate. The image shows how two paragraphs would be decorated to show up in two different fonts and colors.

I think you would really enjoy learning HTML (Hyper-Text MarkUp Language) It is ALL about doing stuff to text. Not just fonts, but paragraphs, tables, and so much more.

Let me know what you think.

Christmas Countdown

Good Morning Everyone
We will officially begin the 2008 Christmas Baking today. We are going to start with some simple recipes to get a head start on things. Ken is the only one who responded with a favorite cookie. Ken, you will be rewarded for your choice. I am assuming everyone else is still hanging onto their Peanut Butter Blossoms!
Todd, I did not receive my 'grade' on my work on the blog. Although Kim trumped me on my attachment, I do not think I should be penalized for that.
We will be getting ready around here also for the new carpet to be laid on Friday. After that we will have a marathon of decorating and sprucing up the Old Kentucky Home.
How about pictures of each of your Christmas Trees or other decorations on this blog? I think that would be fun to share.
Todd, if any packages arrive at your place, you and Ken are not to open them until Christmas! That is all for now, have a good day. We are looking forward to seeing those pictures.
